Christians, redeem the time. We don’t know exactly when Jesus was born.
We do know that every December most of the world begins to think a bit more
about Jesus. This increased (and appreciated) focus on Jesus provides Jesus’ people
with more opportunities to talk about their Lord. It seems those opportunities
should be utilized.
Talk About God’s Love
We have been given extra opportunities to talk about God’s love for his rebellious
creation. For those who wonder if God still loves the world, remember this is the
way God loves the world: he gave his only begotten Son so that all those who
believe in him should be saved. Remember that “God shows his love for us in that
while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Rom. 5:8).
Talk About God’s Plan
God’s plan for our salvation never really began. God’s plan for our salvation is
timeless. God knew exactly what he would do to save us even before he created us.
Paul said, “But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of
woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we
might receive adoption as sons. And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of
his Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!” So you are no longer a slave, but a
son, and if a son, then an heir through God” (Gal. 4:4-7). Paul had already explained
how God’s grace is applied to his people so that they are brought into his family. In
Galatians 3:26-27 Paul said, “for in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through
faith. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.”
Talk In God’s Providence
Who has God put in your life? Who needs to hear how great it is to live with God in
your life? Where can you begin? Begin with yourself. Remind yourself of God’s
presence in your life and the blessings you enjoy. Then, with your heart on Christ,
prayerfully look for opportunities for gospel conversations and make the most of
them.
